Sea Kayaking in Stigfjorden
Kajakbryggan’s rental station at Björholmens Marina is located on the northwest coast of Tjörn, in a charming fishing village surrounded by the Stigfjorden Nature Reserve.
Here you can paddle out into Stigfjorden, a protected inland sea with rocky islands, bays, and flourishing coastal meadows.
The location is suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers, whether you want to take a short trip or spend a whole day on the water.
How the rental works
The station is unmanned and open from May to September.
You can easily book online and receive a code via email when the booking is completed.
On site, you unlock the equipment with the code and manage everything yourself.
If you need help, you can consult the staff at the hotel reception, where there are also toilets available.
The station operates in collaboration with Björholmens Marina Hotel, where you can enjoy a meal or a drink on the restaurant’s terrace right by the water.
Kayaks and pedal boats
There are both single and double kayaks for those who want to paddle together.
The kayaks are stable and glide easily over the waves.
All equipment is provided on site – paddles, life jackets, and spray skirts are in the kayak and are returned after the trip.
The kayak station is located at the bottom of the hotel’s parking lot, next to the water and the nice sandy beach.
Our pedal boats are located below the restaurant’s outdoor seating area by the marina.
They are first-class and very sturdy, accommodating four to five people and have two seats with pedals.
The pedal boats are easy to pedal and move surprisingly quickly through the water.

In cooperation with Björholmen’s Marina, Kajakbryggan has established an unmanned rental station that consist of single kayaks, double kayaks and pedal boats.
An unmanned station means that there is no assisting staff on site,
so you handle the pickup and return of the watercraft yourself.
Björholmen’s Marina has a reception with staff present if there is any unexpected problems.
Booking and payment are made on the website.
After completing your purchase, you will soon receive a confirmation email with the code to the lock.
A life jacket is included in the price and can be found in each watercraft.
Please make sure to return the life jacket to the same place when you are finished using it.

Visitor parking is available adjacent to Björholmen’s Marina. A parking fee applies.
The distance from the car park to the Kayakbryggan’s unmanned rental station is approx. 10 metres.
Björholmen’s Marina offers restrooms for Kajakbryggan visitors. The restrooms are located next to the reception.
You find public toilets in the guest harbor.
A life jacket is included in the price and can be found in each watercraft. Remember to put back your life jacket, spray deck and your paddle into the kayak before you shove it into it’s booth when you’re done.
Adapt your tour after your own skill-level. If it’s your first time kayaking or paddleboarding, stay close to shore at all times. On the lake, the right-hand rule applies, and as a paddler, you must always give way. If you turn over with your kayak, don’t panic. Get out and hold on to your kayak and paddle. If you’re not experienced, the best thing to do is to swim with you kayak to shore and empty it of water.
The renter is responsible for taking proper care of and using the equipment correctly. In cases of obvious negligence or theft, the renter may be held liable for any resulting damage or loss.
