Kayaking on Lake Anten
By Lake Anten, next to Gräfsnäs Castle Park, you’ll find Kajakbryggan’s rental station – the perfect starting point for both short and longer paddling trips. The area is calm and scenic, with a bathing spot, café, and the historic castle ruins all within easy reach.
Lake Anten offers varied scenery with forested shores, small islands, and abundant wildlife. You might spot ospreys, loons, or swans gliding by. Anglers can look forward to pike, perch, and zander.
The lake is suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers. You can follow the shoreline, explore nearby coves, or take a longer trip to sights such as Loholmen, with its castle ruins, or Gomer’s Stone, which is linked to local legends. Around the lake, there are wind shelters and fire pits for longer excursions.
How the rental works
The station is unmanned and open from May through September. Simply book online and you’ll receive a code by email once your booking is confirmed. On site, unlock the equipment with your code and manage everything yourself.
The rental station is located in the small boat harbor, at the lower end of the main parking area by the castle park. The launch ramp is just a few meters away, making it easy to get out on the water.
Kayaks and pedal boats
The station offers single kayaks for one person and double kayaks for two. The kayaks are stable and easy to handle. All equipment is included – paddles, life jackets, and spray decks are stored in the kayak and should be returned after your trip.
Pedal boats are also available, seating four to five people, with two pedal-equipped seats at the front. They are stable, easy to use, and glide smoothly across the water – perfect for a relaxed outing on the lake.
Exploring Lake Anten
From the harbor, you can follow the shoreline in any direction, explore nearby coves, or take a longer trip to well-known spots such as Loholmen or Gomer’s Stone. For longer adventures, there are wind shelters and fire pits located around the lake.

The general terms and conditions, as well as the purchase terms, are available at the time of purchase and must be accepted before completing the transaction.
A life jacket is included in the price and can be found in each watercraft. Remember to put back your life jacket, spray deck and your paddle into the kayak before you shove it into it’s booth when you’re done.
Adapt your tour after your own skill-level. If it’s your first time kayaking or paddleboarding, stay close to shore at all times. On the lake, the right-hand rule applies, and as a paddler, you must always give way. If you turn over with your kayak, don’t panic. Get out and hold on to your kayak and paddle. If you’re not experienced, the best thing to do is to swim with you kayak to shore and empty it of water.
Kajakbryggan, in collaboration with Gräfsnäs Castle Park and Alingsås Municipality, has established an unmanned rental station for kayaks and pedal boats.
As the station is unmanned, there is no staff on site – you therefore handle both the pickup and return of the watercraft yourself.
Booking and payment are made through the website. Once you’ve completed your purchase, you’ll immediately receive a confirmation email with a code to the lock.
Included in the price:
- A life jacket, available in each watercraft. (For pedal boats, life jackets can be found in a box on the dock.) Remember to return the life jacket to the same place when you’re finished.
- A spray deck, available in each kayak. You put it on like a skirt – instructions are provided in a video accessible via a QR code on the side of the rack.
- Paddle.

The castle park itself is accessibility adapted, making it easy to get around with, for example, a wheelchair or stroller on most surfaces. The castle ruins, however, have limited accessibility.
Please note: Kajakbryggan’s operation is not accessibility adapted. We don’t have any special aids for getting in or out of the watercraft, and our kayaks, SUP boards, and pedal boats are not specially adapted.
In the castle park, you’ll find Lindelöfs Slottscafé, which serves food, pastries, ice cream, and other treats during the summer.
